About Kodi's
Paw-a-thon

Welcome to the second event for Kodis Paw-a-thon Inc.

Kodi's Paw-a-thon Fur Festival aims to raise funds for Cancer Council Victoria & Australian Animal Cancer Foundation.

The event remembers our furry and members of the community who lost their battle, celebrates cancer survivors and hope to support those struggling with it.

The event seeks to promote fitness in both humans and dogs, and to help support cancer research. The event consists of a 5k pet friendly run/walk, 50m Doggie Dash, along with a 5k run/walk, 10k & 15k run, to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.

Parallel to the event, we have also organised market stalls, food trucks, fresh food produce, live entertainment music, pet adoption zone and much more.

A 30sec silence will take place prior to the start of events, to honour those who:

  1. Have lost their battle to cancer.

  2. Are currently undergoing treatment.

  3. Are a Cancer Survivor/Supporter.

The association's charitable purpose is a health promotion charity (HPC), whose principal activity is promoting the prevention or control of human diseases, in this case being cancer research.

Furthermore; also prevent/relieving the suffering of animals by contributing funds to cancer research into the causes, diagnosis, treatment and/or management of illnesses and publishing the results of that research.

Kodi
The Miracle Dogs Journey

Kodi has had a challenging life journey when it comes to his health. Thanks to his vet Frank at East St. Albans Vet Clinic, Kodi has been very well looked after. At age 1, Kodi was diagnosed with Seizures. For 9 months he experienced this. Whilst no specialist could understand what was happening, his mum conducted lots of research into treatment, remedies and a change of diet. 9 months later, it was a miracle....... Kodi has not had a seizure since.

Then.....Kodi was diagnosed with Mast Cell cancer in 2017 aged 8. He was given only 9 months to live. Again, with Franks' help, & after lots of research into treatment, remedies and a change of diet. After attending countless Veterinary & Oncology appointments, more than 20 surgeries, & multiple CT scans, we are lucky to still have Kodi with us today aged 12.5.  Kodi now supports his mum, as she experiences cancer first hand.

In humans, cancer kills 1 in 3 women and 1 in 2 men. The incidence is almost equal in dogs, killing 50% of dogs over the age of 10 and 33% of those under. We would like to fundraise to contribute to both human and animal cancer research.
