Kodis Paw-a-thon Rules

You are responsible for your own safety and your animals. You enter this event at your own risk. It is important that you read the event rules and follow each of the safety guidelines of the event. Those who register to participate acknowledge and agree to abide by the following:

​DOG RULES

  • Only one dog per person may enter the 3k event. 

  • All dogs MUST BE ON LEASH at all times. 

  • It is the responsibility of each owner to ensure their dog waste is picked up and disposed of in the bins provided.

  • The owner is responsible for their dog and to ensure it is a socialised dog, and not a dangerous dog. 

  • Condition of entry that no dangerous breed of dogs allowed!

GENERAL

  • All participants must be present at the Race Safety Briefing.

  • Tickets will be refundable - minus admin fees of website platforms,  if a ticket holder is unwell. 

  • First Aid - please refer to map

  • No Spectators or supporters are allowed to follow participants at any stage of the event.

  • Knowing the course is your responsibility, please double check the course map.

  • You must listen to and obey any instructions given by Race Officials.

  • Please report any accidents or incidents to a Race Official as soon as possible.

  • If you are walking or running in a group please do not walk or run more than two abreast. Please be aware of participants passing you from behind and keep to the left.

 

INSURANCE

  • Kodis Paw-a-thon has public liability. However it does not cover individual competitor medical costs.

  • Ambulance transfer is expensive and this cost is the responsibility of each individual competitor. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you have current ambulance cover and you are encouraged to consider personal insurance against losses such as medical, race entry and accomodation costs.

 

​BIBS

  • Bib Numbers must be worn on the front of your top at all times.

​

AUDIO DEVICES

  • Due to the risk to the individual, the use of any and all portable audio devices is discouraged.

PARTICIPANTS UNDER 18, 16 & 10

  • All participants under the age of 18 must have the consent of their parent or guardian.

  • Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the child.  

  • All children under the age of 10 must be under the constant supervision of the accompanying adult.   

  • If an adult is accompanying a child in the 3k event, only one dog is permitted to enter on behalf of the pair. However for the Doggie Dash, more than one dog is allowed to enter per family, as long as an Adult accompanies the dog during the Doggie Dash. 

 

​CLOTHING

  • Please ensure you have adequate and suitable clothing. 

  • Footwear must be worn.

  • No bare torsos.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS AND VALUABLES

  • We will provide an area where personal belongings may be placed during the race. However, Kodis Pawathon does not accept responsibility for their safety. If you have valuables that you are concerned about, please do not leave them in this area.

CHANGING ENTRY NAMES

  • If you wish to compete under another persons entry, please inform us ASAP, as we need to know exactly who is on course if Medical attention is required AND for COVID tracing. Please email hello@petfriendlyfunrun.com

RUBBISH

  • No rubbish including dog waste, is to be left on the course. Please place all items, no matter how small, in pockets for depositing in bins.  This is a requirement of council, Parks Victoria and the future of our events.

PHOTOS AND VIDEOS

  • For Kodi's Pawathon events, volunteer photographers take photos and videos. These images may be made available for publication on social media, websites or paper media. By participating, the competitor gives permission for any images and commentary that includes them to be used by Kodis Pawathon and their partners.

REFUND POLICY

  • I agree that there are no refunds. I may request the registration to be transferred to the next Kodi’s Paw-a-thon event, no later than 5pm, the Friday prior to the event. When downgrading distances, no refunds will be given for the price difference.

 

RACE CANCELLATION:

  • Kodi's Pawathon will always make every effort to ensure all scheduled events go ahead as advertised.  However, there are several conditions that may require an event to be postponed or cancelled, for example, inclement weather, or dangerous track conditions. These are outside the control of Kodi's Pawathon. We also may be directed by other authorities, such as local councils or Parks Victoria, to cancel an event. If an event cannot go ahead as scheduled, Kodi's Pawathon will endeavour to postpone the event to an alternate date. However, in some circumstances the event may have to be cancelled.

Participant's Waiver

By registering to participate at their and their dogs own risk. The competitor declares they and their dogs if applicable:

  • Are trained, fit and injury free.

  • Have a vet clearance if there is a risk your dog is not fit for the event.

  • Present no risk to themselves or others (including other dogs) by participating in the event.

  • If you feel unwell or unfit or injured to compete in the event, we strongly advice you to withdraw immediately and seek assistance or professional advice.

  • If another participant is in distress immediately offer assistance and inform a Race Official.

  • Acknowledge that running, including running with your dog, carries risks including, but not limited to, weather, trip hazards, hydration, hyperthermia and rough surfaces and take full responsibility for their own and their dogs actions.

  • Accept all risks and release the event organiser, its agents, affiliates, employees, members, sponsors, promoters, volunteers, and any person or body, directly or indirectly associated with the event, from all claims, demands and proceedings arising out of or connected with their participation in the event and indemnify them against all liability for all injury, loss or damage arising out of or connected with their participation in this event. This release continues forever and binds their heirs, successors, executors, personal representatives and assigns.

I have read this waiver, and I am competent and of legal age to register for this event and accept the waiver with full understanding of the above information.

Dog Policy and Waiver

​

  • By registering for any event, I have voluntarily requested to participate in Kodis Paw-a-thon. I own, the dog attending the event.

  • I understand that I assume all responsibility for my pet and its behaviour/conduct during this event. I understand that my actions or my dog’s actions may result in anticipated or unanticipated injuries and damage to myself and others, including my dog, as well as others and their dogs.

  • Kodis Paw-a-thon reserve the right to deny any dog or human entrance to the event for any reason they see fit.

  • I agree to abide by the rules and regulations as set by Kodis Paw-a-thon. Failure to do so will result in removal from the event without refund.

  • Participants are expected to practice responsible pet ownership.
    All dogs must be leashed, hands-free leash is preferable (no retractable leashes).

  • Be wearing a collar with identification tag

  • Be socialised and non-aggressive toward people or other dogs

  • Dogs must remain within 1.2m of its owner at all times, no extendable leashes to be used beyond 1.2m

  • Dogs are current on all vaccinations from a licensed veterinarian. Required vaccinations include: Distemper / Hepatitis / Parvovirus / Parainfluenza / Bordetella / Kennel Cough

  • Please come prepared to clean up after your dog.

  • Must not be on heat / in season

  • Must not be in its 2nd trimester of pregnancy

  • Has not whelped within 6 weeks or less

  • Be reasonably fit and exercised regularly in the lead up to the event.
    Must not be carrying an injury or in such an unhealthy condition as to bring discredit to the sport.

  • No puppies will be allowed entry to the event. Dogs must be over 4 months in age to gain entry.

  • Owners should be prepared to prove age of dogs if questioned.

  • Entrants assume all risks for injuries and damages sustained as a result of the manner and method by which this event is administered. Kodis Paw-a-thon are fully released from liability and discharge them from any and all responsibility, claims, demands, or causes of action of any kind arising from any injuries or damages incurred to me or my dog during this event, regardless of who causes the injury or damage sustained, and regardless of basis in fault or negligence. Entrants understand that their dog will not be allowed admittance unless and until they agree to assume full responsibility for the actions of their dog. Entrants also grant Kodis Paw-a-thon the perpetual right to use for publicity or promotional purposes my name and pictures of me and my dog or dogs in any media without any liability or obligation to them.

    I have read this waiver, and I am competent and of legal age to register for this event and accept the waiver with full understanding of the above information.
